The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating following a fatal three-vehicle traffic crash at Bauple, south of Maryborough yesterday afternoon.
Initial investigations indicate at approximately 12.20pm, a utility towing a caravan was travelling north along the Bruce Highway when a wheel dislodged from the van and struck a truck, travelling in the opposite direction.
The truck then hit a third vehicle, another utility, which was travelling north behind the caravan.
The driver of the third vehicle, a 59-year-old Gympie man, died at the scene.
The truck driver, a 58-year-old Sunshine Coast man, sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
The other driver, a 44-year-old Cairns woman, was not physically injured, and is assisting police with investigations.
Witnesses, or anyone with relevant dashcam vision, are urged to contact police.
