Regret For Not Suing Her Fertility Doctor

Nadya Suleman, known as “Octomom,” has revealed her biggest regret: not suing the fertility doctor who helped her give birth to octuplets. Sixteen years after making history with the world’s first surviving octuplets, Suleman wishes she had taken legal action against her doctor, Dr. Michael Kamrava.

In January 2009, Suleman gave birth to eight babies after undergoing multiple rounds of in vitro fertilization (IVF) with Dr. Kamrava. While the doctor told Suleman he had implanted six embryos, it was later revealed that he had implanted twelve, far above the typical limit of two embryos. At the time, Suleman already had six children and was only hoping for one more, but ended up with octuplets.

Reflecting on that time, Suleman admitted she regrets not suing Dr. Kamrava. “His insurance would’ve been the one paying, and it would’ve been some millions, and it would’ve been helpful for my family,” she said. However, she also expressed gratitude for Kamrava’s innovative technique, which allowed her to fulfill her dream of a large family.

Although Suleman didn’t sue the doctor, she did take legal action against the hospital for breaching her privacy by sharing her personal details with the media. The public attention and scrutiny led Suleman to retreat from the spotlight in 2013.
