Cyclone Alfred is now expected to make landfall late tomorrow or early on Saturday.
Alfred is currently a Category 2 system about 285 kilometres east of Brisbane.

The cyclone is expected to most likely cross the coast between Maroochydore and Coolangatta.
Two more refuge centres have opened on the Sunshine Coast this morning.

If you need to leave home and can’t stay with family and friends, you can go to the Caloundra Indoor Sport Stadium and the Landsborough Sports Complex which both opened this morning.

There are already people at the refuge at Nambour Showgrounds, along with 50 horses and three caravans.
You can also take livestock to the Landsborough centre on Tunnel Ridge Road.

The Noosa Leisure Centre and Caboolture Memorial Hall in King Street are also providing emergency accommodation.
Noosa Council is also monitoring high tide at 1pm over concerns it could cause minor flooding at Boreen Point, Noosa North Shore, Noosaville and Tewantin.
Sunshine Coast Mayor Rosanna Natoli says people should pay close attention to advice and alerts from councils and the weather bureau.
She says although the system might track further south it’s the time to be vigilant and not complacent as cyclones can move unexpectedly.
Sandbagging is continuing across the Sunshine Coast and Noosa Council areas.

Meanwhile, homeless people are being offered accommodation to provide them with shelter during adverse conditions.
Councils and state government agencies are working with them, including offering hotel accommodation in some cases.
