Cameron Diaz, actress and wife of musician Benji Madden, revealed her unconventional approach to maintaining a strong marriage. She believes that it should be completely acceptable for married couples to have separate bedrooms and even separate houses.
During an interview on the Lipstick on the Rim podcast, Diaz expressed her thoughts. “To me, I would literally have my house, you have yours. We can have a family house in the middle, but I’m perfectly fine sleeping in my own room,” she explained. “And we can have a bedroom in the middle where we come together for intimacy.”
This opinion sparked a lively discussion with the podcast hosts, who suggested Diaz may have been better off keeping her views private. However, Diaz was unapologetic, stating that she had expressed these ideas before getting married.
Diaz and Madden welcomed their daughter, Raddix, in January 2020. Although Diaz has taken a step back from acting, she frequently acknowledges that Benji is her one and only interviews.
It’s clear Madden feels the same way and openly expresses his love for his wife on his social media accounts.
In a 2016 interview with Harper’s Bazaar, Diaz admitted that marriage was a surprise to her, but it has brought her immense joy and a newfound sense of openness.
