With the Easter and Anzac Day break coming up this year, over half of Australians (58%) are seizing the opportunity of back-to-back long weekends to tackle those long-overdue D.I.Y. projects.

New research from Bunnings highlights that 73% of Australians have been postponing home improvement tasks (I know I’m in that list), citing a lack of time as the main reason these projects have fallen by the wayside. However, with consecutive long weekends offering the chance to use just three days of leave for a 10-day break, this holiday period is the perfect window to dive into those neglected D.I.Y. endeavors.

“Home improvement projects often get pushed aside as the busyness of life takes over, but with an extended break ahead, there’s no better time to roll up your sleeves and get those jobs done,” Mitch explains Says Bunnings D.I.Y. Expert Mitch McLean

“From a simple declutter to a full outdoor makeover, even small efforts can leave your home feeling refreshed and revitalized for months, or even years to come.”

The most commonly delayed D.I.Y. tasks include gardening and landscaping (76%), decluttering and organizing the home (60%), and painting touch-ups (43%. If you have kids then you know how much that last one gets away from you, I swear every wall in the house has a hole, or a half finished touch up.

With a little extra free time on the horizon, We are taking a look at the Top 4 DIY Projects that get forgotten!

Revamp your garden so it is prepared and ready ahead of the winter season. Start by planting new flowers and mulching existing flower beds, then dress it up by building small garden pathways.

2.      Build or refinish a deck for outdoor entertaining

If you’re looking for a bigger task to address, why not use the Easter break to upgrade your entertainment area by creating a new outdoor oasis. Use some Natural Decking Oil, and Cabot’s EasyDeck Applicator to make your outdoor flooring look brand new. Better yet, upgrade your outdoor living style with the Jumbuck Charcoal Gas Patio Outdoor Heater to keep guests warm in the winter.

Easter is always a very busy time at Bunnings, with fun in-store activities and workshops to encourage families to get crafty over the holiday period, and our team members across the country are ready to help customers with all their D.I.Y needs,” Says Bunnings D.I.Y. Expert Mitch McLean

3.      Declutter and reorganise your home

Decluttering can be a great way to kickstart your Easter break by doing something proactive that you’ll thank yourself later for. Aim to tackle a new area of the home each day and slowly work through organising your storage spaces. Maybe check out some new shelves or storage boxes.
